Many are making efforts to reduce the environmental impact of automobiles, but what about the tires of the cars for a walk in? Continental thinks it could help. Roadshow reports the company has introduced the Conti GreenConcept (yes, a concept tire), where more than half of the materials are “traceable, renewable and recycled.” You can even renew the natural rubber rolling strip with few problems – it is not a completely new idea, but the up-to-date footsteps have been reserved for large commercial trucks. Three renovations would be enough to ensure that the material used for the envelope is cut in half with respect to total mileage.

About 35 percent of materials are renewable, including dandelion rubber, silicate made of peel ash rice and a series of vegetable oils and resins. Another 17 percent is polyester thread made of recycled PET bottles, recovered steel and recovered black carbon.

The design should improve the efficiency of the cars themselves, added continental. The new coating patterns, the side walls and the tread make the GREENCONCENCET 40 percent lighter than a conventional tire at around 16.5lbs, which, in turn, leads to 25 percent lower resistance than the tires of Greater audience in the European Union to shoot. Continental estimates that you would get a six percent more reach of an electric vehicle.

While you may not equip your car with these exact tires in the short term, this is more than a thought exercise. Continental plans to gradually implement your recycling technology as of 2022, including the production of tires that use recycled bottles.

Efforts such as Conti GreenConcept are intended in part to improve the public image of Continental. He wants to be the company more environmentally responsible for tires in 2030, and become completely neutral in carbon for the year 2050 “at the latest.” However, it also points to a more comprehensive approach to ecological cars, where many of the components, not just the power train, are more respectful with the planet.
