Ndakasi, Mountain Gorilla In Viral Photobomb Selfie, Dies In Her Caretaker’s Arms

Ndakasi, mountain gorillas from Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, returned in the news. This time, the update will destroy your heart. The 14-year-old gorilla has died of a prolonged disease. Ndakasi rose for fame in 2019 after he was the Photobombed Forest Ranger’s Selfie. The photo became a viral through the internet at that time.

The news was distributed by forest officials through a statement released on Instagram. “With sincere sadness that Virunga announced the death of Gorilla Mountain Yatim Yatimantan, Ndakasi, who was under the care of the center of the center of Park for more than a decade,” read.

Ndakasi took his last breath in the arms of caregivers and lifetime, Andre Bauma. Bauma has treated ndakasi since 2007. He was only two when Rangers saw him lying on his dead body. Rangers understand that he is too vulnerable to returning to the wild. Therefore, he was taken to Mountain Gorilla Orphan Center.

Bauma said in that statement, “is the privilege of supporting and caring for loving creatures, especially knowing the trauma of ndakasi suffering at a very young age.” He further stated that the nature and intelligence of sweet ndakasi helped him associated with great apes and made him understand why humans need to protect them with all strength.

“I am proud to have mentioned ndakasi my friend,” Mr. Bauma added. “I love him like a child and his cheerful personality brings a smile to my face every time I interact with him.”
