Renault’s Megane E-Tech Electric could help rescue workers put out battery fires faster
Renault presented the Megane E-Tech Electric at the IAA Munich Automobile Show on Monday. While the specifications seem decent enough, it is the security functions that are the most striking aspects of this electric vehicle.
The firefighter access function is derived from an association between Renault Group and Frechn Firemen that extend for more than a decade. The EV includes special access to the battery for rescue equipment. Renault Claim This can allow first respondents to turn off a battery fire in five minutes, compared to between one and three hours for most EV battery weapons. There is also a switch below the rear bank that allows to rescue the equipment to disconnect the battery.
In addition, Renault put a QR code on the windshield. The idea is that rescue teams can scan the code to see the details about the structure of the car. You can find out the battery locations and air bags, as well as the information about where it is safe to cut the vehicle. Renault says that this information can help first responders save up to 15 minutes when they try to free a shock victim, which could help save lives.
No equal EVS is constructed, and the first responders will not necessarily know the intrications of each vehicle. Therefore, provide information on the structure of Megane E-Tech Electric using a QR code is an intelligent movement that would be nice to see more automatists adopt. The same goes for easy access to the battery to help turn off the fires faster.
The last iteration of the Megane line is built on the Renault CMF-EV platform. For the body, the designers were inspired by the concept of Morphoz, the company was out of last year. There are two motive train options, since CNET RoadShow notes: a base model with 130 horsepower and a more advanced alternative with 215 HP and 221 pounds of torque.
You can choose between two battery packs as well. The option of 40 kWh has a range of 186 miles (300 km), and the package of 60 kWh must obtain up to 292 miles (470 km) to drive on a single charge, according to Renault. The company based the estimates in the European WLTP test procedure. Connect the Megane E-Tech Electric at a 130 WW fast charging station, and you can add up to 186 miles of driving range in 30 minutes of load time.
On the other hand, the OpenR infotency system is based on Android Automotive OS, so you will have access to Google applications and Google Assistant. While on a longer trip, the system can help you locate cargo stations that minimize your travel time, says Renault. The Electric Orders of Megane E-Tech are opened in February 2022 and the sales begin the next march.
